Pieter Bieghs is a student at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), where he is completing his master's degree in architectural engineering.
His main focus is lightweight structures - from tensile structures to lightweight shell designs. He is currently conducting a master thesis on a lightweight kit-of-parts system for shells using an industrial robot and carbon fibre strands under the supervision of Lars De Laet.
In 2016 he won a student design competition for the 'De Brouckere Tower' in Brussels.
Pieter joins the Block Research Group as an intern.
